Awwwww Valentine’s Day! For those that are in love this can be a very special day to celebrate and for those that aren’t this can be a day of both sadness as well as confusion. Whether you are in love or not, here are some tips on what NOT to do.

3. PRETEND
Valentine’s Day can be stressful. It’s tough on those that are not in a defined relationship. Weather it’s your girlfriend or a girl you are “dealing” with the best thing is to be realistic with your gift giving. If you are not serious about the girl you are with do not give her a gift that states otherwise. Don’t be an ass either. You definitely should acknowledge Valentine’s Day; however, remember the difference between giving a “real” gift, flowers and saying the words can be significant.

2. CONTACT YOUR EX
Do not use Valentine’s Day as a reason to spark up an old flame that died long ago. Your ex may be flattered that you contacted her, but all you are doing is setting yourself up for disappointment. Why travel down that road again? She is your ex-girlfriend for a reason! STOP looking at her pictures reminiscing on what could be because it’s NOT! That means no Facebook stalking and no drunk texting.

The meaning of Valentine’s Day is very much lost in commercialism ($$$). Yes, Valentines Day is the one day when people who aren’t particularly romantic get the chance to shower their significant other with gifts, but that doesn’t mean you should go the extra mile and ask her for her hand in marriage either. Do not fall victim of the hype of Valentine’s Day unless you absolutely believe the time is right. Besides proposing on Valentine’s Day is so cliché.
