If you are in the market for a high-performance $100,000-plus luxury sedan, why not consider a Maserati. The new sixth generation Maserati Quattroporte, which will be revealed at the Detroit motor show in January 2012 is expected to hit the road early 2014.
The Italian word ‘Quattroporte’ literally translates into ‘four-door,’ and this is one four-door sedan that should live up to the price tag. Expected to be lighter than the current Maserati Quattroporte, the new model will offer a four-wheel drive system and stop-start technology. One of the biggest selling points with the new Quattroporte will be the reduce fuel consumption.
The new unit is expected to get more power, but also improved fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions. The engine will be a Ferrari-built V8 and much smaller than previous models. The front grille, three side vents and distinctive triangular C-pillars will remain, but have been evolved from the current car to improve the overall look. Other features include a rising beltline running the length of the car to improve the exterior look.
“Inside, the design of the Quattroporte aims at essentiality, stressing the simplicity of lines and the full functionality of the in-board instrumentation. Functional elements are blended with soft quality surfaces made of prestigious woods and refined leathers.”
