If you’re a fan of sports, then chances are you have a favorite athlete. Someone you cheer for the most as they score a goal for the team. Someone who, if you saw them walking down the street, you’d instantly stop them and ask (politely, of course) for an autograph or maybe a photo. You see that athlete as your hero, and maybe they inspire you in some way. These five athletes are no exception. Read on to find out about the five coolest athletes in sports today who have made a huge name for themselves, both in the game, and to their fans.

Number one: Stephen Curry

Team: Golden State Warriors

Not only is Curry one of the most popular players on the Golden State Warriors, he has won several awards, including Best NBA Player and Best Male Athlete at the 2015 ESPYs, beating out other athletes such as Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans. Curry is easily identifiable by the number 30 on his jersey, copies of which (along with hats, mugs, flags and shoes) have been sold to loyal fans all over.

Number Two: LeBron James

James is said to be one of the best athletes in the NBA today, and for a very good reason, as other athletes in various sports have praised him for not only his talent, but also his hard work, drive and determination. Not only that, but James’s talent on the court has earned him numerous awards. From 2012-2013, James was given the title of Most Valued Player, and won several other awards, including Best Championship Performance at the ESPYs in 2015.

Number Three: John Tavares

Team: New York Islanders

Tavares has made a huge name for himself in the world of sports, despite his young age (25). He is the currently the captain of the New York Islanders, which is a very impressive feat. On top of that, in a total of the 350 games that he has played, he has “racked up 136 goals, including 23 game winners….” He is also said to be one of the best athletes to come from Canada.

Number Four: Bryce Harper

Team: Washington Nationals

Bryce Harper has made a huge impression in the world of baseball. With “26 homers and a .339 batting average….” he has become a big name amongst baseball fans. Harper has also achieved many accomplishments. For instance, in 2015, he was graces with the following awards: MLB Best Person of the Year (ESPN), Most Valued Player, and the Hank Aaron Award (named after Hank Aaron, the award was created to celebrate Aaron’s own “surpassing” of baseball legend Babe Ruth’s “home run career mark of 714 runs. The award is given to baseball players who have been acknowledged as the “top hitters.).

Number Five: James Harden

Team: Houston Rockets

A player who could probably give Stephen Curry and LeBron James a run for their money, and he still plans to keep on going strong! In the many games that he has played, Harden has been described as “unstoppable” in his career, and has been featured on the front covers of various magazines, including Sports Illustrated and NBA 2K16.

With a bright future ahead of each one, sports fans of each simply can’t wait to see what these athletes have to offer as they get better and better.
