Texas Motor Speedway always leaves visitors with something memorable, but this year’s NASCAR Cup Series race stood out. We invited our friend Rob, a Vietnamese sports photographer living in Los Angeles, to experience NASCAR at a superspeedway for the first time, bringing a fresh perspective. He arrived with his cameras, curiosity, and a fresh set of eyes that reminded us how great NASCAR is. Joey Logano drove past Michael McDowell for the lead with four laps to go and held off Ross Chastain in overtime to earn his first NASCAR Cup Series win of the season at Texas Motor Speedway. It was also Logano’s first win with AAA as his primary sponsor.
Rob’s camera caught more than just the on-track action He was drawn to the atmosphere, the way the fans connected with the sport, and the sensory overload of 40 cars racing by at nearly 200 miles per hour. Beyond the on-track action, and with the access Rob was given, he was able to highlight the intimate and authentic nature of NASCAR racing.
Check out some of the atmosphere captured through Rob’s lens below, and take the jump to Firsts at Texas: A New Perspective on NASCAR Superspeedway Racing to discover more about his experience.
