In order to explain the layering and interplay that goes into some of one of my all-time favorites Daft Punk, Cameron Adams who goes by the alter ego “The Man in Blue” decided to take a mashup of their discography Definitive Daft Punk and reveal its entire structure including the cutting, layering, levels and equalization of 23 different songs. By dividing up the sound data for each song and computing its appearance in realtime, the resulting visualization gives you an understanding of the unique anatomy of a mashup. As one commenter wrote, it is definitely “a feast for the eyes AND ears!” Check it out here.
