When we decided to head East — no, not New York, but as in SouthEast Asia — Thailand was at the top of our list. There is much to see in the land of ancient Buddhist temples and exotic beaches. Of course, the first stop on our trip had to be the tourist magnet that is Bangkok.
One of the most visited cities in the world, simply put, Bangkok is an adrenaline rush. As we pondered which area would be the best to serve our needs and more importantly, satisfy our curiosity about the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, we knew the Sukhumvit district was the place to be. To be exact, we concluded the Bangkok Marriot Hotel Sukhumvit was the only place we wanted to be.
Love in Sukhumvit
Sukhumvit, Bangkok’s unofficial international metropolis, claims many worthy reasons to cling on to being one of the most popular areas for travelers. A stop here while in Bangkok proved it all. Home to everything from its famous Sukhumvit road to its fancy restaurants, shopping centers, frenetic markets, nightlife, rooftop bars, and fine hotels and apartments, Sukhumvit is a fantastic city to pay a pleasure visit. Choosing to stay at the Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit in the heart of Bangkok’s Thonglor district was an easy decision — we loved every bit of this 5-star treat.
Luxury at a Gorgeously Designed Hotel
Unwinding after the day’s long travel, we found this exquisite hotel sitting sublimely on Sukhumvit Road Soi 57. The location is ideal, just a few minutes walk away from the BTS Skytrain at Thong Lo. Checking into one of their over 250 spacious, well-designed, luxurious rooms and suites was smoother than what we could have imagined. The reception and front-desk service were just superb. It seems to us they were aware we had traveled far; cleared us in no time and offered to take our bags to our rooms. The hotel has an unbeatable location in the middle of it all, but a good escape from the hustle of the streets of Bangkok.

The interiors make the best use of open space, and the rooms are elegantly styled to western standards of a true 5-star hotel. Our room had everything we needed, was beyond spacious, and we enjoyed free high-speed WiFi. Anyone who travels knows how important good WiFi can be.
And More!
The Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit towers 49 floors. Thanks to the rooftop bar and lounge, we didn’t have to imagine how superb the view must be from that height, but more on that later. Our well-appointed room wasn’t the only impressive part of the hotel. More than just a place with nice rooms to rest your head, this Marriott tips things over the top with a terrific infinity pool. Trust us, you don’t want to miss a refreshing session in this fantastic pool to ease away the day’s tension.
The Spa Experience
No trip to Thailand is complete without experiencing a Thai massage. We indulged in the infinity pool longer than planned and sadly didn’t make it to the spa, but from the looks of it, we did ourselves a disservice. Our only regret from our stay at the Bangkok Marriot is that we didn’t take advantage of the hotel’s luxurious spa. The chic and cozy Anne Semonin Spa offers a variety of soothing services including Swedish massages, deep-tissue massages, hydrotherapy, and aromatherapy.
Drinks in the Sky
There is action at every turn, and from the bottom to the top at the Bangkok Marriott. This hotel is full of surprises, but what was waiting for us perched high in the sky on the rooftop left no doubt in our minds that we had picked the best accommodations for our trip to Bangkok.
The Octave Rooftop Lounge & Bar is a totally insane offering of a sensational, 360-degree unobstructed view of Bangkok. Whether you choose to eat dinner or simply have drinks after a busy day in Bangkok, Octave offers a stunning backdrop high in the sky. Octave is located on floors 45 – 49 and opens daily from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m, giving guests ample opportunity to enjoy new-age fusion food, a delicious seafood bar, and signature cocktails in a chic ambiance.
Our Final Verdict
The 5-star Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit is indeed one of the best throughout Southeast Asia. A comfortable retreat for busy travelers, this hotel is a perfect escape for anyone – no matter what’s on the agenda. If you get to Bangkok, booking a room at the Marriott has to be in the top of your list.
