PATRICKS Wants Men to Think Differently About Grooming

VicBlends Brings the Barber Shop Home With BetterDays

Betterdays Founder Victor Fontanez

For VicBlends, the barber chair has always been about more than hair. The celebrity barber, whose real name is Victor Fontanez, sees the chair as a place for conversation, confidence, and connection. Now he is bringing that philosophy into the men’s grooming market with BetterDays, a new haircare brand built around simple routines and products designed for different hair textures.

Fontanez started cutting hair in his mother’s garage during his senior year of high school after his own barber showed him what the chair could mean to a community. Years later, his client list includes President Barack Obama and Tom Brady, while his social media following has grown to more than 23 million across platforms, according to BetterDays. Free haircuts for young people and men in communities around the country have also remained part of his work.

From the Barber Chair to a Brand

The idea behind BetterDays is similar to what shaped Fontanez’s career: a haircut can change how someone feels when they leave the chair, and the conversation that happens during a cut can matter just as much as the finished style. BetterDays brings some of that experience into a grooming routine at home, starting with products that are meant to fit into everyday life rather than require a complicated regimen.

Joey Thomas co-founded BetterDays with Fontanez, bringing experience as a retail and consumer-products executive who previously held positions with DUDE Wipes and BIC. Thomas serves as CEO, while BetterDays was incubated by Root and launched with $7 million in funding from investors including Maveron and Will Ventures, along with strategic investment from Lil Baby.

The company’s philosophy is summed up in a simple line on the BetterDays website: a better day does not have to be a perfect one. Starting with the small stuff, taking care of what you can, and keeping up with the routine are central to how the brand presents itself. Grooming becomes one small part of taking care of yourself without turning the process into another chore.

Built for Different Hair Types

BetterDays is launching with products designed for different hair textures rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. The company says its products are made for straight, wavy, curly, and coily hair, including the 3A through 4C range highlighted in its launch materials. Simplicity also sits near the center of the brand’s philosophy, with no 12-step routine and no extra products simply for the sake of having more products.

The opening lineup consists of two products, Rebound Cream and Grip Powder, with both priced at $20. Rebound Cream is a daily leave-in conditioner designed for softness, hydration, and easier styling, while Grip Powder is a texture powder intended to provide lift, grip, and flexible hold. Both products carry BetterDays’ Scent No. 26, the signature fragrance used throughout the line.

Rebound Cream Keeps Things Simple

Rebound Cream is the conditioning-focused product of the two. BetterDays describes the 4.5-ounce formula as a lightweight daily leave-in that provides hydration without a heavy feel, with pre-heat protection included for men who use styling tools. Listed ingredients include shea butter, coconut oil, pro-vitamin B5, rosemary leaf extract, rice bran extract, vitamin E, and sunflower extract.

BetterDays says the formula is designed to help reinforce hair fibers, improve elasticity, reduce breakage, and provide antioxidant support for the scalp. Those are claims made by the company, rather than results we have independently tested. The product currently carries a 4.8 rating from verified reviews on the BetterDays website, although customer reviews should be viewed as individual experiences rather than proof that the product will perform the same way for everyone.

Grip Powder Adds Texture Without the Fuss

Grip Powder takes a different approach. The 2-gram daily texture powder is designed for dry-root styling, with BetterDays positioning it around texture, lift, and flexible hold. Listed ingredients include arrowroot powder, silica, pro-vitamin B5, biotin, rice bran extract, vitamin E, and sunflower extract.

According to the company, Grip Powder adds lift at the root and creates a reworkable hold without leaving a white cast. The formula is also listed as talc-free, alcohol-free, vegan, and cruelty-free. Like Rebound Cream, Grip Powder currently has a 4.8 rating from verified reviews on the company’s website.

Scent Matters Too

Scent No. 26 is a signature fragrance built into every product, and Fontanez told Entrepreneur that it was developed from scratch and went through multiple rounds of testing. The number 26 is an ode to his hometown and where he came from, according to Fontanez.

Fragrance may not be the first thing men consider when buying hair products, but BetterDays clearly sees it as part of the experience. The brand’s website lists scent alongside hair type, simplicity, and formulation as part of what it believes matters in a grooming routine. Products need to work, but BetterDays also wants the routine to smell good and feel easy enough to repeat.

BetterDays Is Just Getting Started

Two products may not sound like much for a company entering an already crowded men’s grooming market, but BetterDays is treating the launch as a starting point. Entrepreneur reported that the company has plans for additional products, including a sea salt spray and styling gel expected in November, followed by clay, detox shampoo, and a hair-growth serum in 2027.

Fontanez has also made it clear that he wants BetterDays to stand on its own rather than depend entirely on his name or social following. His experience behind the barber chair gives the brand a natural connection to men’s hair, while Thomas brings experience in consumer products, retail, and e-commerce. The company is starting with a straightforward proposition: give men products that address different hair needs without making grooming more complicated than it needs to be.

BetterDays is still early in its development, with just two products currently available and more on the way. Whether the company can turn that simple approach into a larger grooming line remains to be seen, but the foundation makes sense. Fontanez knows the hair business from behind the chair, and BetterDays is giving him a way to bring that experience into a category where men are increasingly paying attention to how they care for their hair.
