A combination of sci-fi, action, adventure and fantasy, many people flocked to the theaters to see the films, even going to conventions dressed up as their favorite characters. And fans can now look forward to the newest film, Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens.
So how can you get ready for this new film? Read on to find out everything you need to know about the new Star Wars movie.
After Disney purchased Lucasfilms Ltd. on October 30, 2012, the company announced that it intended to produce a series of sequel films to the Star Wars saga, beginning in 2015. Although Disney owned the films, they were more than happy to include George Lucas as a “creative consultant.” The rest, as they say, is history.
The film, which is said to run about 136 minutes, is supposed to be set 30 years after the events of Star Wars Episode Six: Return of the Jedi. The upcoming episode 7 will be directed by J.J. Abrams, who also directed Star Trek and Mission Impossible 3, and will feature known talents such as Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Mark Hamil (Luke Skywalker), and Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia). Such strong talents will surely bring a lot to the film. Both Ford and Hamil have been highly praised for their work, and Fisher has also brought light on the many roles she has taken on.
Fans can also look forward to amazing costume designs. The costumes from Star Wars have garnered much interest in those who love the films. The costume designer for episode 7 will be Michael Kaplan, who has a history with the film’s director, as Kaplan designed the costumes from the Star Trek films.
Not only that, but the works of renowned composer, John Williams, who also did the score for the Harry Potter films, will be heard. Williams has also worked on musical scores for films such as Jaws, Jurassic Park, and Schindler’s List. Williams has also composed scores for past Star Wars films as well.
All of this will help frame the story and new world that seems to be coming together for the Star Wars mythos in this film. We know this because so many other films are on deck for the franchise in coming years.
