1,500 onlookers watched as New Zealand’s naked rugby team, ironically named the “Nude Blacks” got their butt’s spanked (no pun intended) by a clothed women’s rugby team from Spain. The friendly exhibition game started with the all-girl side in blue shirts and black shorts and the men’s side completely nude. In the spirit of friendly competition, the ladies promised that each time the men scored they would remove an item of clothing.

Why would anyone want to play rugby naked?

According to Founder, Ralph Davies “It started as a joke as part of a backpackers’ festival. Here students are known to run across the streets naked in winter, so we decided to go further by playing rugby in the nude. Our first game was in 2002 in the middle of a dunes on a beach. We were frozen.”
