Buffalo Trace Distillery has made our recommendations before. This time it’s their Wheatley Vodka, joining the “the list” because it stands out from the others. Instead of just another in the multitude of everyday vodkas we all know, this small batch recipe uses wheat and other grains that result in a clean, fresh taste with the perfect soft hint of vanilla, a standout for sure.
Wheatley Vodka is small batch, using Master Distiller Harlen Wheatley’s one-of-a-kind micro-still. It’s distilled an unbelievable 10 times and triple filtered. Harlem knew wheat provides a fine, balanced flavor, so as he set out to make a premium vodka, he included wheat in the recipe. The wheat is cooked, fermented and distilled seven times before it’s combined with the other grains recipe and distilled three more times. As Harlen puts it, “This is how vodka is supposed to taste” and we agree.
