Every man (yes you) should know the importance of taking care of their body and skin. And yes, you should still give your skin attention even while you are away from home. Whether you are traveling for work or pleasure, it doesn’t mean you should take a brake from properly caring for your largest organ, your skin. After all, your girl shouldn’t be the only one on your next vacation parading around the pool area with a glow.
To help you find your own “man” glow, we enlisted the help of a professional to provide you the best advice on taking care of your skin when you are on the go. Below are 5 relevant skincare tips from Dove Men+Care expert dermatologist, Dr. Terrence Keaney to help you keep your skin looking young and healthy while on the road.
1. Keep Moisturizer Handy
It’s common knowledge that there is less humidity inside airplane cabins which is why your skin always feels so dry after a long flight. I suggest packing a TSA-approved facial moisturizer in your carry-on such as Dove Men+Care Hydrate Face Lotion to apply a few times throughout the flight to keep your skin moisturized. It also has the added benefit of SPF in case you’re lucky enough to be headed somewhere warm this holiday season.
2. Avoid Alcohol
While a cocktail may be relaxing, that whiskey isn’t doing your skin any favors. It’s likely that your skin will become dehydrated during your flight, but you do not want to compound the problem by adding alcohol, the ultimate dehydrator. Stick with water so your skin will remain plumper and be less prone to irritation.
3. Don’t Forget Your Staples
If you have a basic routine you use at home, make sure you pack all these products instead of using whatever your hostess or hotel may have waiting for you. It may take some planning ahead of time with TSA size requirements, but by switching products dramatically with the added possible change in climate and humidity, you’re setting yourself up for skin irritation by introducing new products that your skin may not tolerate. Save yourself some grief and make sure your usual grooming routine products land a spot in your carry on.
4. Be A Courteous Passenger
This may sound obvious, but it’s only good manners to travel with proper hygiene. I suggest adding an extra layer of antiperspirant such as Dove Men+Care Extra Fresh, and going easy on the cologne the day you travel. No one wants to sit next to the sweaty dude or the guy who reeks of cologne – so don’t be him.
5. Wash Away The Day
Lastly, I recommend showering upon arrival to your destination to rid your body of the bacteria you picked up along your journey and to feel refreshed. I recommend using a moisturizing and exfoliating body wash such as Dove Men+Care Deep Clean Body Wash to restore hydration to your skin, and the little grains in it will make you feel like you got a good scrub after a long day.
