New Year’s resolutions are great, but why set a bunch of goals that you know you aren’t going to keep? How many times have you been to the gym so far? How’s that job hunting going? Are you eating healthier? What about that idea you had about cutting down on drinking too many beers with the fellas? Still procrastinating? We thought so.
Now that we made you feel bad (sorry), rather than beat yourself up, just continue reading. Our first piece of advice – don’t set anymore New Year’s resolutions. Instead, try these 8 simple and achievable lifestyle changes to be the best man you can be in 2018.
1. Be Healthy
Get mentally and physically fit now. Being healthy will make a huge difference in the way you feel, and your quality of life. Drink more water. Get more sleep. Stop worrying so much. Start working out and make an appointment with your doctor to assess your current health status. The healthier you are, the happier you will be.

2. Be Adventurous
Travel is essential. Exploring the world expands the mind and your worldview. You learn a lot about yourself when traveling. It often gives you a new and refreshing perspective on life. We hope that after seeing the world, you will be a changed person.
3. Stay Focused
Pay attention. The ability to focus is an extraordinary task. Distractions and lack of motivation is not your friend. Staying focused especially on long-term goals is one of the most difficult things to do, but it is necessary to be successful. Stop multitasking and increase your productivity by focusing on what matters the most to you. Ultimately, staying focused will help you accomplish almost anything.
4. Live Simple
There is something to be said for keeping it simple. Sometimes you have to get back to the fundamentals and re-connect with who you are, and what makes you happy. Get rid of everything that doesn’t bring you joy including that high-maintenance girlfriend, unnecessary debt, junk you don’t need, and friends that aren’t really good friends. We aren’t suggesting you live a minimalistic life, but it is probably a great time to consider decluttering. It’s time to strive to live a simple, uncomplicated life.

5. Stay Organized
Keep your life in order. Make it a priority to take care of yourself by staying organized. Write things down, create schedules, prioritize your to-do list, set alarms, schedule me-time, throw away extra things you don’t need, and continuously reorganize. Living a life that is unorganized is like playing roulette. Commit to taking daily action. Developing routines and good organizational habits will help your life run smoothly.
6. Be Stylish
Get Some. Keyword “style,” not fashion. This one is pretty easy. If you look good, you feel good. We aren’t encouraging you to spend loads of money on the latest Gucci sneakers, but we do suggest you get in touch with the real you and express yourself freely. Style is about your identity, your perception of who you are. More importantly, it’s your sense of self. Go ahead and express yourself.
7. Be Authentic
It’s okay to be you. Figure out who you really are, who you want to be, and become that. Never waver on choosing to be yourself. Be secure enough in yourself to focus on your own life. A deep connection with your authentic self will help you have a splendid 2017 and beyond.
8. Live in Gratitude
Everything we have mentioned so far are all things that hopefully bring you day-to-day happiness, but living in gratitude will significantly change your life. Learning to be thankful and happy for what you already have while pursuing the things you want is the beginning of gratitude. William Arthur Ward said, “Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.” Forcing yourself into a positive frame of mind will help you embrace what you have instead of focusing on what you don’t have. Whether it is the opportunity to live a simple or adventurous life, we encourage you to enjoy the little things and find gratitude during the best or most difficult times.
These are just a few things that will help you have a successful year. Try a few. But remember, do what brings you joy.
