We introduced you to the Acura Precision Concept a few months ago. Now, the 2017 Acura MDX is up and its new look takes cues from that concept’s more angled front end, as well as some other big modifications inside.
The 2017 MDX has fresh styling — there are LED headlights with a really sharp design and an angled hood with a pentagon/diamond shaped grille. The chrome sills provide a visual pop, and the dual exhaust within the upgraded rear bumper is unique and exciting.
There’s also an important safety suite on all versions of the MDX this year. It includes lane departure warning, collision mitigation braking, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation and lane keeping assist…seems just short of driving itself, eh? There are automatic high beams and an electric parking brake, a much-welcomed feature, especially if you regularly park on steeper inclines. Equipped with AcuraWatch™ on all grades, the new Acura MDX will be the first luxury SUV in its class to offer these advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies, including automatic emergency braking, as standard features. One can never be too safe, so we’re appreciative of Acura’s attention to the comprehensive safety program.
The 2017 MDX Sport Hybrid pairs a 3.0-liter V6 with hybrid assist — a seven-speed automatic motor up front, with two additional electric motors at the rear axle. Acura’s estimating you’ll get 25 mpg city, 26 mpg highway and a 26 mpg combination from the 325 horsepower output. We also appreciate the option to get captain’s chairs and extra USB ports instead of the second row bench seat in the higher trim option. It’s perfect if your typical passengers aren’t small children and you want the convenience and upgraded look of a rear center console.
All in all, the Acura MDX is awesome. Visit www.aura.com to find out more. We think you’ll be impressed with the MDX and the rest of the Acura lineup for 2017.
